On 30 July 2026, FURIOUS officially became a member of the BIOPOLY Cluster, an initiative comprising the POLYMEER, BIOPYRANIA and POLYMERS-5B projects.

On 30 July 2026, our membership of the BIOPOLY Cluster was made official. This initiative aims to exchange best practices and research findings to ensure faster learning and progress, improve the visibility and impact of results through joint dissemination, the organisation of shared events and cross-promotion, and foster sustainability and innovation in polymer science, with a focus on the circular economy, advanced materials and bio-based raw materials.
Until now, the cluster consisted of POLYMEER, BIOPYRANIA and POLYMERS-5B. All four projects are working on the development of sustainable and bio-based polymers
POLYMEER
Using grain waste from the brewing process as a raw material, they are working to produce recyclable and/or biodegradable bioplastics for use in agricultural films, tertiary packaging for breweries and textiles for the automotive sector.
BIOPYRANIA
Using second-generation woody biomass, they focus on producing new classes of polyamides and polybenzimidazoles from aromatic monomers, which can be used in the fields of clean hydrogen and electric vehicles as high-performance, environmentally friendly alternatives to fossil fuel-derived products.
POLYMERS-5B
They focus on producing novel polymers from agri-food waste and biomass in accordance with the principles of “food first” and “cascade utilisation”. The resulting products will be used in the textile, automotive, furniture and polymeric resin markets.
In conclusion, FURIOUS is now a member of the BIOPOLY Cluster, and we could not be happier about this, as it brings together four projects working on the development of sustainable and bio-based polymers; after all, as we said at the start, we go further when we walk together.
