Last week, on 29 and 30 June, the FURIOUS project held its M36 meeting in Maastricht (Netherlands). The university named after the city hosted the event.
Over the two days, the partners met to review the progress made over the last six months and agree on the way forward for the final phase of the project.
Day 1 – Project overview and technical progress
The meeting opened with a welcome and introduction by Angelika Weiler (Ecoplus), followed by a general overview of the project presented by Debora Puglia, who outlined the current status of the work and the main objectives moving forward.
The FURIOUS consortium is pleased to announce the incorporation of AVANTIUM (Netherlands) as a new project partner as of 1 August 2025. Avantium is a leading technology company in renewable and circular polymers, dedicated to accelerating the transition from fossil-based to sustainable materials. From its headquarters in Amsterdam, a team of more than 300 professionals works to develop and commercialise cutting-edge technologies that convert renewable feedstocks into valuable chemicals and circular plastics.
Biopolymers represent one of the most critical challenges of our time. As the world moves away from traditional petroleum-based plastics, scientists are racing to develop bio-based alternatives that can match their performance. In this context, the FURIOUS project is stepping up, aiming to improve the properties of biopolymers to make them viable for large-scale, high-performance use.
The FURIOUS project team held on 26 and 27 November 2024 a productive two-day meeting to assess its progress and outline the path forward as it approaches the midpoint of the project timeline. Below, we summarize the key discussions and outcomes from the agenda-packed event.
