    The University of Perugia is FURIOUS project coordinator. It was founded in 1308 and nowadays it is organised into 14 departments, with about 25,000 students, 1,100 professors and researchers and 1,100 staff members. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University based in Terni will be in charge of the project management, as well as of polymers characterization and LCA analysis.

    Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna

    The Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna (UNIBO) is considered to be the oldest university in the Western world. The Alma Mater develops research collaborations with universities, research institutions and the industry, supporting free research and protecting and strengthening its scientific diversity. Within FURIOUS, UNIBO is in charge of the solvent-free synthesis at lab scale of eco-designed new furan-based polymers with target properties for the proposed applications.

    The University of Alicante has been founded in 1979. The research group on Polymers and Nanomaterials Analysis (NANOBIOPOL) was established in 2008 with the aim to study the new challenges raised by the development of new biomaterials obtained from natural sources and biodegradable as well as nanomaterials. Within FURIOUS, they will lead the characterization of furan-based polyesters and will be involved in biodegradation studies.

    The National Interuniversity Consortium of Materials Science and Technology (INSTM) gathers 52 Italian universities active in researching advanced materials and technologies. INSTM will lead the research on furan-based thermoplastics for automotive and in the design and development of furan-based high-performant robotic components and will also contribute contribute in assessing furan materials after irradiation

    The University of Pisa will act as affiliated entity of the FURIOUS project. UNIPI is a public institution established in 1343. The department of Civil and Industrial Engineering will be in charge of supporting the FURIOUS consortium in the processing and characterization of furan-based polymers and polyesters for transparent screens.

    The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences BOKU Vienna was founded in 1872 and now counts 15 departments. The department of agrobiotechnology of BOKU will lead the FURIOUS activities on circular by design concepts and will support the development of enzyme-based recycling and biodegradation studies.

    The West Pomeranian University of Technology (ZUT) is a public university located in Szczecin, Poland. Researchers from the Department of Materials Technology and Department of Polymer Engineering and Biomaterials Science at ZUT will be involved in the synthesis upscale of furan-based polymers and their characterization.

    The department of Complex Tissue Regeneration at the MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine of the University of Maastricht is involved in the project. Within FURIOUS, they will support the characterization of polymers and functional properties of the products developed in the projects, they will develop the bio-robotic devices and study the processability and biodegradation of the furan-based formulations.

    Stora Enso is a global provider of renewable products in packaging, biomaterials, and wooden construction. Stora Enso will lead the Definition of raw material and application requirements and will supply FDCA to the project from its Pilot plant in Ghent, Belgium.

    Condensia Quimica is a producer of ester and polyesters such as plasticizers, additives for lubricants, adhesives, coatings and additives for PLA, PHA, and biopolymers based on natural sources and fully biodegradables. They will scale up the selected materials developed in FURIOUS.

    Bio-mi is a small and medium size manufacturer and research and development enterprise from Croatia dedicated to the development and production of biobased, biodegradable and compostable thermoplastics materials and film products. BIO-MI will be in charge of the production of furan-based thermoplastics for electronic and biomedical packaging.

In FURIOUS, Lippert will help in the definition of specifications and requirements for automotive polymers and in the scaling up production and testing of automotive screens and filters.

    Gammatom is a gamma irradiation facility focused on providing a high quality level in sterilization with radiations. Gammatom is focused in tailoring irradiation services in order to get low dose uniformity ratio avoiding stress to the products. They will be in charge of irradiation of furan-based polyesters films.

    KNEIA is a Spanish SME that works with public companies, research institutions, government agencies and investors to provide assessment services on innovation management, dissemination and communication strategies, knowledge transfer, and implementation of scientific technological structures worldwide. KNEIA acts as communication, dissemination and exploitation manager and is leading the corresponding WP9.

    EvoLogics designs and manufactures wireless underwater communication systems based on bionic concepts with an international team of experts in underwater acoustics and bionic engineering. The company's main business is solutions for underwater communication, positioning, navigation and monitoring, as well as an autonomous surface vehicle for survey and support operations. Within FURIOUS, EvoLogics will help with defining the specifications and verifying the performance of underwater polymers and biosensors for robotic components.
